In Ngoa-Ekelle, the start of the school year doesn’t come quietly—it makes its presence felt! On Monday, October 5, 2026, the University of Yaoundé I buzzed with the excitement of a major event for the official launch of the 2026–2027 academic year. To get a sense of this excitement, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of the Academic Orders, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, immersed himself in the heart of the campus for a field visit that was firmly focused on interaction and hands-on experience.
Hosted by the Rector of the UYI, Prof. Remy Magloire Etoua , the Minister of State made his way through the crowd of students to visit, in succession, Lecture Hall 250 in the College of Education, the massive Lecture Hall 1001 in the College of Sciences, and then Lecture Halls 501 and 502 in the College of Arts, Literature, and the Humanities.
Everywhere, the scene was the same: lecture halls packed to the brim, students who had arrived early to make sure they didn’t miss a single bit of knowledge, and faculty members at the front of the classroom, already fully engaged in imparting knowledge. A show of strength that confirms the undiminished vitality of the “Mother of Universities.”
Seizing this opportunity, the Chancellor of the Academic Orders electrified the lecture halls with a powerful statement—the kind only he knows how to deliver: “You are the Prometheuses of the nation: go and steal the knowledge that will transform Cameroonian society of tomorrow!”
While praising the selflessness of the teachers who stepped up from day one, the Minister of State called on young people to channel that initial enthusiasm into intellectual boldness and discipline, in order to make knowledge a catalyst for national transformation. By immersing himself in the reality of campus life in this way, the Minister of State sets the tone for the 2026–2027 academic year, which will be marked by rigor, scientific achievement, and prestige at the University of Yaoundé I.
